Meet Your Coaches
Ruaidhrí McTiernan
Owner / Head Coach
Ruaidhrí is the founder and head coach at MTF Galway, bringing over 18 years of experience across strength training, fitness classes, and personal coaching. His background spans both the fitness industry and formal education in business, sport, and applied policing - shaping a structured, disciplined approach to coaching and development.
His focus is on helping people build strength, confidence, and consistency in a way that lasts. Rather than quick fixes, Ruaidhrí prioritises proper technique, clear progression, and creating an environment where members feel supported while still being challenged.
Having worked with a wide range of individuals across Galway, from complete beginners to those preparing for specific fitness goals, his coaching is built around meeting people where they are and helping them move forward with purpose.
MTF Galway reflects that philosophy - a place where coaching is hands-on, progress is tracked, and members are pushed the right amount to achieve real results.
Riley McEleney
Coach
Riley has been part of MTF Galway since the very beginning, playing a key role in building the environment and standards that members experience today. His coaching style is calm, approachable, and detail-focused, with a strong emphasis on proper technique and steady progression.
Outside of the gym, Riley works as a bouncer - a role that reflects his ability to stay composed, aware, and confident in high-pressure situations. That same presence carries into his coaching, helping members feel comfortable while still being guided and supported throughout each session.
He works closely with members across classes and one-to-one coaching, ensuring they understand what they’re doing and continue to improve over time. Riley’s goal is simple: to help people train with confidence, feel at ease in the gym, and build a strong foundation that lasts.
Calum Fraser
Coach
Calum brings a high-energy and performance-driven approach to coaching at MTF Galway, helping members get the most out of every session. With a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology, his coaching is backed by a strong understanding of how the body works and how to train effectively for long-term results.
He is currently training for an Ironman, which reflects his commitment to discipline, endurance, and continuous improvement - qualities he brings into every class he coaches. His sessions are designed to challenge members, build consistency, and keep training both engaging and effective.
Calum has a strong ability to push people the right amount, creating an environment where members feel motivated, supported, and encouraged to progress at their own pace.
